Privacy Policy
Your privacy on the Internet is important to us. Through the use of this HIT Global Web site, we obtain certain types of information about users. The following describes this information, what we do with it, and how to correct or change the information if you should desire to do so.
Information Collected by HIT Global
This HIT Global Web site collects three types of information from users: personal data (such as names, gender, contact information, data related to your profession, e.g., specialization, and other personal profile data); project-specific data (such as survey responses, rate of completion, and user submitted data including anonymized patient data); and aggregated information (such as information about traffic patterns on this site, e.g., how many users log onto this Web site on a daily or weekly basis).
All personal information collected by this HIT Global Web site, whether your own or that of your patients, will not be dispensed or be sold to any third party. All information collected in this program will be treated confidentially and reported as aggregate only.
HIT Global will not release personally identifiable information to a third party without the individual's consent, except when such information is required for reporting purposes to the appropriate accrediting agency.
The data collected are stored on servers located in Canada.
Personal Data
Personal data is collected through the registration process. When you submit data, we clearly label which data are required and which data are optional.
Program-specific Data
The information collected in this program is designed to improve physicians' practices through ongoing, interactive, self-reflective learning activities within a designated medical field.
HIT Global will not release personally identifiable information to a third party without the individual's consent, except when such information is required for reporting purposes to the appropriate accrediting agency.
Medical information on your patients, as provided by you, remains anonymous and is only identified by a profile number.
HIT Global compiles data collected from its online programs to produce benchmark reports for participating physicians, accrediting bodies, or sponsoring organizations. Such information is based on aggregated, anonymous information and does not include any personally identifiable information about any individual or patient.
The number of participating individuals in the aggregate is, however, shared.
Aggregated Information
Aggregated information is collected through various methods: it may come from survey information, site registrations, or IP addresses. An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web. Web servers, the computers that "serve up" web pages, automatically identify this IP address, and when you request a page from this HIT Global Web site, our servers log your IP address. This HIT Global Web site collects IP addresses for the purpose of system administration and to provide aggregate data for customization.
HIT Global does not link IP addresses to any personally identifiable information. Although your session will be logged through your user name, this process will serve to track your session information to contribute to aggregated information. If this aggregated information is published or transferred to a third party, it will be in an anonymous format.
Use of Cookies
This HIT Global Web site uses cookies in a limited manner.
You may occasionally get cookies from other sites, which is standard in the Internet industry. HIT Global does not control these cookies, and these cookies are not subject to HIT Global's privacy policies.

These sites may send their own cookies to you, and may collect and use data in ways that this HIT Global Web site would not.
Security
HIT Global has put safeguards in place to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. We use secure server hosting locations with monitoring, firewall protection, controlled access, and encryption technology to protect your data. We also protect your information by requiring that all our employees and others who have access to, or are associated with the processing of your data, respect your confidentiality.

We use security methods to determine the identity of this HIT Global Web site's registered users so that appropriate rights and restrictions can be enforced for each user. Reliable verification of user identity is called authentication. We use both passwords and user names to authenticate users. Users are responsible for protecting and maintaining their own passwords.
